Purpose

The purpose of the Course is to provide participants from countries of the Asia-Pacific region with advanced knowledge and techniques in the field of Marine Ecosystem and Pollution Management.

Title

The Course is titled "Marine Ecosystem and Pollution Management".

Objective

At the end of the Course, participants should:

  1. Have acquired knowledge and enhanced awareness pertaining to marine ecosystem and pollution management.
  2. Have acquired the current techniques of instrumentation, data acquisition and analysis and management in Marine Ecosystem and Pollution.

Number of Participants

The number of participants for the Course shall not exceed 12. The following countries will be invited to nominate their applicants; Cambodia, Fiji, Indonesia, Kiribati, Laos, Maldives, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.

Qualification for Applicants

Applicants for the Course are:

  1.  To be nominated by their respective government.
  2. Scientists, managers, government officers, academician or other related stakeholders with a minimum qualification of Bachelor degree in related fields.
  3. Should be between 22 to 35 years old.
  4. Should have practical experience of least one year in the field related to the course
  5. Should have a good command of spoken and written English
  6. Should be in good health, both physically and mentally (pregnancy is regarded as a disqualification).

Institution


The Course will be conducted at Malacca Straits Research and Development Centre (MASDEC), Putra Environment Laboratory (PEL), Universiti Putra Malaysia in Malaysia and the field trip to related areas/sites.

Medium of Instruction

  The Course will be conducted in English

Certificate

Certificates will be  awarded upon the successful completion of the course.

Allowance and Expenses

Participants  will be provided with the following:

  1. Air ticket (economic round trip),  and
  2. Accommodation in campus accommodation,  per diem and medical insurance (for participants from outside Malaysia) and transportation expenses within Malaysia.
