RESEARCH INTEREST:

Plant Taxonomy and Conservation

(Orchidaceae, Pteridophytes and TeijsmanniodendronLabiatae)

Plant Taxonomy basically includes lower plants (Pteridophytes) to the most advance group of plants the orchids (Orchidaceae), and also having research in the Teak family (Verbenaceae/Labiatae) for the genus Teijsmanniodendron Koorders for Malesian Region. The principal focus over the past 7 years has been the diversity of orchids in limestone areas in Malaysia, with part of Perlis and Sarawak has been studied and still continue. The  work has concentrated on genera of importance to horticulture and conservation, and to the classification of the family as a whole in these habitat. The future of orchid conservation work in Malaysia is hoped to be significantly effective through the active participation as member of the IUCN/SSC Orchid Specialist Group, whereby concerns triggered by research findings could be heard globally. As for taxonomy of Malaysian Pteridophytes, she is currently the Coordinator for Pteridophytes – Flora of Peninsular Malaysia Project (2005 –2010) and is also the Coordinator for the Revision of Malesian Lycopodiaceae – Flora Malesiana Project  collaborating with  Philippines National Herbarium and Herbarium Bogoriense, Indonesia.
