RESEARCH INTEREST:

The area of research for Aziz Arshad is on the biology and ecology of marine invertebrates particularly the soft bottom benthic fauna.  This includes the macrobenthic species inhabiting shallow coastal waters habitats including mangroves and seagrass ecosystems.  His specific interest lies on the taxonomy and ecology of macrobenthic species that is commonly associated to environmental problems and management.  Through his expertise on invertebrate identification, he has been engaging in several macrobenthos biodiversity studies program, not only in the country but encompassing the ASEAN countries.  He also works a great deal on Polychaeta identification and having great interest in the taxonomy and ecology of polychaete worms from family Onuphidae and Spionidae.  His other side interests also include the ecological studies on marine crustacean and molluscan larvae.
